Democratic 2020 Candidate for PA General Assembly’s 129th District

Kelly McDonough believes the residents of the 129th district are ready for progress and change.

District 129 has seen tremendous change and diversity over the last ten years and yet, our representation has remained the same. Kelly wants to be the voice for all of the people in her district. As a woman, mom and teacher, Kelly knows she can offer a fresh perspective not just for the people of the 129th district, but for all of Pennsylvania. Her past experience has given her the qualities one needs to be an effective leader and representative.

No one working a full time job should live below the poverty line. We must protect all working Pennsylvanians.

Property Taxes

Pennsylvania currently has one of the highest property tax rates in the country, I plan to change that.

The state of PA and the nation needs to provide access to affordable and quality healthcare.

We are at a crucial moment in human history. In PA specifically, our farmers livelihoods are at stake.

A New Voice For The Diverse 129th District of Pennsylvania

Kelly is a Government and Politics Teacher at Wilson High School, a wife, and a mother. As a High School teacher in the district, Kelly has seen first hand how significantly our local community has diversified. Through relationships with students and faculty, she developed insight and a better perspective on the emerging demographics in the area. Her time as a teacher has also taught her that listening is more important than talking and that there is tremendous value in our young people.

Kelly leads two student organizations at Wilson High School that are centered on community service, leadership, and philanthropy. Student Government teaches the students how to lead and give back to their community and school. Mini-THON has raised over $500,000 in the last 7 years for Four Diamonds and pediatric cancer.

Kelly is a Berks County native. She grew up and attended elementary through high school at Fleetwood School District. Kelly is a first generation college graduate. She attended Penn State University, University Park where she received two bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and History. After receiving her teaching certificate from Kutztown and while working at Wilson, Kelly completed a Master’s program at Villanova University where she received a History degree. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, walking her dog, teaching dance classes, traveling, reading and enjoying the outdoors.
