Minimum Wage
A Moral Compass For Economic Inequality & Livable Wages
No one working a full time job should live below the poverty line.
- Create a livable wage to protect working families
- Institute a gradual increase to protect small businesses
- Ensure workers can afford housing and essential amenities in our state and community
Property Taxes
Cutting Property Taxes Without Sacrificing Our Children's Future
PA currently has one of the highest property tax rates in the country and that is unacceptable.
- Cut property tax costs for primary residential homes
- Offer rebate vouchers for senior citizens and low income families.
- Work towards innovative and new sources of revenue for our public schools to lessen the burden on our tax payers.
- Prevent businesses from property tax exemptions in their local areas.
Healthcare
Affordable Healthcare for All Pennsylvanians
The state of PA and the nation need to provide access to affordable and quality healthcare. We need to address three major healthcare related issues:
- Provide an affordable, accessible and quality healthcare option to all citizens. Those who cannot afford healthcare should be able to rely on the government for assistance.
- Ensure those with preexisting conditions are not denied healthcare.
- Institute a fair paid family leave. Ensure employees are guaranteed at least 12 weeks paid leave to care for a newborn or sick family member.
- Regulate pharmaceutical companies to ensure affordable essential medication such as insulin. Families should never have to choose between their financial stability and their essential medication.
Environmental Sustainability
Protecting Our Right to Clean Air, Water & A Brighter Future
We are at a crucial moment in human history. In PA specifically, our farmers livelihoods are at stake as they are already dealing with the effects of climate change.
- Create a severance tax for the extraction of non-renewable energy sources providing incentives for business to use clean energy.
- Prohibit fracking to ensure our children will grow up in a world where they can drink clean water
- Use clean energy and innovative technology to help our environment and, in turn, create new jobs and boost our economy.
Women's Healthcare and Reproductive Rights
Comprehensive Reproductive Care & Rights
At the state and federal level, women’s reproductive rights have come under attack. Our current representatives in PA have continually voted to take away essential healthcare options for women.
- Continue to fund organizations like Planned Parenthood that offer affordable, expansive and essential sexual and reproductive healthcare (cancer screenings, pregnancy support, STD testing and prevention, sex education, LGBT services, fertility screenings and much more.)
- Prevent legislators from limiting women’s rights over their own bodies
- Paid Family Medical leave to ensure women can return to work when it is appropriate for them to do so without burdening their financial stability
Education
Reinvest in Public Education & Our Children's Future
As a teacher, public education is incredibly important to me. I believe that we all have a vested interest in an educated society and schools need to be appropriately funded.
- Increase state spending on public education to ensure qualified teachers and necessary materials are provided for teachers and students
- End the public funding of private educational institutions currently siphoning money that belongs to public schools
- Hold private and charter schools to the same standards public schools are held to if they are receiving public funding
